Taking the Gospel to the Streets: Cincinnati Reds Opening Day Parade Outreach

March 26 @ 10:30 am - 1:30 pm

For many years, I’ve had a desire to share the gospel at the Cincinnati Reds Opening Day Parade, but scheduling never quite allowed it to happen. This year, by God’s grace, it’s finally on the calendar and we couldn’t be more excited. The opening day parade is a celebration that draws thousands of people into the streets. Families, friends, coworkers, and visitors gather shoulder to shoulder, ready to enjoy a tradition they love. And in the midst of that crowd stands an open door for the gospel. Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). Sometimes that command leads us across oceans—but sometimes it simply leads us into the streets of our own city.

Parades are one of the easiest venues for gospel outreach. People are already gathered, relaxed, and open to interaction. Conversations happen naturally. Smiles are exchanged freely. There is no need for a microphone or platform—just willing hearts and faithful voices. In fact, parade outreach is so simple that even children can participate. A friendly greeting, handing out gospel tracts, or telling a guest that Jesus loves them can all point people toward Christ. When children take part in gospel outreach, it beautifully reminds us that evangelism is not about skill or sophistication—it is about obedience and love.

Scripture tells us that the gospel itself is powerful: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16). We do not rely on clever methods or persuasive speech. We rely on God’s Word and the work of the Holy Spirit. As believers, we know that unbelief is ultimately spiritual. “The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers” (2 Corinthians 4:4). That is why prayer is essential. We ask you to pray that God would open hearts, remove spiritual blindness, and draw people to Christ (John 6:44). We pray that His Word would not return void, but accomplish all that He intends (Isaiah 55:11).

This outreach is not about numbers or visible results. It is about faithfulness. Paul reminds us, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth” (1 Corinthians 3:6). Our responsibility is to sow the seed; God is responsible for the harvest. We are grateful for the opportunity to take the gospel into a joyful, public space and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. Whether through a Christ-centered conversation or a a handed-out gospel tract, our prayer is that many will encounter the truth that Christ died for sinners, rose again, and offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who repent and believe (1 Corinthians 15:3–4).

Please join us in praying for this outreach—and consider coming alongside us as we take the gospel to the streets of Cincinnati. May Christ be honored, and may many come to know the Savior who alone brings true and lasting joy.
